About the Founder
Dr. Jason Cody Douglass
(Yale University BA, MA, PhD)
Jason coaches clients to achieve their loftiest goals, elevate energy, enhance focus, manage stress, and articulate their values and vision with clarity and conviction. His college-bound students consistently gain admission to their best-fit schools, including Ivy League and other selective US institutions, as well as myriad programs at public and private universities across Japan, Canada, UK, and beyond.
In addition to one-on-one coaching for ambitious youth, he help parents navigate education decisions, provides leadership and performance coaching to professionals, and consults with international schools on projects such as visioning, accreditation, curriculum development, and workshops on writing, wellness, and college readiness.
Before founding Cerulean in Tokyo, Japan, he taught undergraduate students at Sarah Lawrence College and Yale, graduate and professional school students through Yale’s Graduate Writing Lab, and high school students at Yale Young Global Scholars. He has served as both Japan Foundation Fellow and Visiting Researcher at Waseda University. With a deep commitment to education, he is dedicated to helping others reach their full potential, thrive in their pursuits, and build the resilience needed for lasting success.

Berk Mavi
(New York University BA, BS)
Berk is a coach and educational consultant dedicated to helping students build the skills they need to achieve their academic and professional aspirations. Drawing from his own international journey - beginning at age 14 when he moved from Turkey to the US to attend boarding school - Berk partners with students to uncover their strengths, navigate complex application processes, and prepare competitive applications for higher education institutions worldwide.
Berk's expertise extends beyond college coaching. He also collaborates with families to make informed K-12 education decisions, supports students in pursuing specialized academic programs, and offers career planning and professional development guidance. Living by the belief that “a good student can succeed anywhere, but can only thrive in the right environment,” Berk helps students identify and gain admission to schools where they can reach their full potential.
Before joining Cerulean Education, Berk coordinated exchange programs between Turkey and Canada, provided admissions counseling to middle and high school students in China, Japan, and Korea, and tutored a wide range of AP and IB subjects. His diverse professional background also includes roles in mergers and acquisitions in China and the US.
Coaching Services for Youth
All sessions are tailored to the goals and needs of each student. Sessions are held either online or in our Shibuya office. While we are happy to support those in other timezones, sessions are exclusively conducted between 9AM and 9PM JST.
