Academic Coach for G6-12 Students (Full-Time, Hybrid in Tokyo)

Cerulean seeks an Academic Coach who will work one-on-one and in groups with students enrolled in grades 6-12 at international and boarding schools in Japan and abroad. The coach will support each student on their path to achieving ambitious goals, such as identifying, gaining access to, and succeeding at highly selective high schools, boarding schools, summer programs, and colleges that align with their values. The coach will also teach skills-based workshops and preparatory courses for standardized exams. When not working with students, the coach will spearhead the creation of teaching and training materials.

This is a full-time hybrid role with workdays spent in our Shibuya office, online, and on-site at partner schools in the Tokyo and Yokohama areas. The successful candidate will receive 4-6 weeks of training in our coaching methodologies and pedagogical philosophy before beginning work with students. During their first year, the successful candidate will also be required to complete professional certification programs with the National Association for College Admission Counseling, the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, and the Strong Interest Inventory (a restricted psychological instrument used for career exploration and counseling). Tuition for these courses will be paid by Cerulean.
